Creating a SmartCILP Profile

With Hein’s acquisition of Current Index to Legal Periodicalssubscribing institutions and organizations are able to create unlimited SmartCILP profiles. If you already have a SmartCILP profile and would simply like to edit it, refer to this help article.

To create a new SmartCILP profile, select the Current Index to Legal Periodicals from your list of subscribed databases.

Select the Create New SmartCILP User button.

Enter your institutional email address into the box and select “Create/Update.”

Users will be redirected to a form where they can manage what they will receive in the weekly SmartCILP notification. All CILP content has been categorized into 104 subjects. Many of those subjects, in turn, have been organized under fifteen topics (or groups) that allow users to subscribe to multiple subjects and subject-specific journals at once. Enter your name and select as many TopicsSubjects, or Journals as desired.

Once you have made your selections, click “Create/Update” once more to successfully create your SmartCILP profile.

You will now begin receiving weekly SmartCILP notifications as they are delivered (most Mondays of the year). Learn how to manage your own SmartCILP notifications, or learn how to become an authorized administrator and manage multiple SmartCILP profiles.

Encountering an error? It may be due to one of the following:

  1. Your email address does not match the domain of the subscribing account. To successfully create a new SmartCILP account, you must use your institutional email address. (Email addresses ending in yahoo.com, aol.com, or gmail.com, for instance, will not work).
  2. You have already created a SmartCILP account with the email address in question. If this is the case, you will be unable to create a duplicate. Learn how to edit an existing account.
