How the “Most-Recently Accessed Authors (Past 12 Months)” Ranking Is Calculated (Comprehensive)

Overview

This ranking identifies the authors whose articles have been accessed most frequently by HeinOnline users during the past twelve months. All access counts are drawn from activity within HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library, capturing the total number of times users have viewed, opened, or otherwise retrieved an author’s articles during this period.

Eligibility

All authors with at least one article published within HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library qualify for inclusion in this ranking. No institutional, geographic, or subject-area restrictions apply. The final list presents the top 100 authors based solely on article access activity over the past twelve months.

Metric Used

This ranking is based on a single metric:

  1. Accessed (Past 12 Months)
Counts the cumulative number of times an author’s articles have been accessed within the past twelve months. An article counts as accessed when it is clicked from search results, navigated to directly, or retrieved through the citation navigator.

Calculation Method

Since this ranking uses only one metric, no Z-score calculations or ScholarRank formula are applied. Authors are ranked directly based on their total access counts for the twelve-month period. The authors with the highest access totals appear in the top positions of the ranking.

Update and Refresh Schedule

This ranking is refreshed with every monthly HeinOnline content release. All article access counts are recalculated to ensure that the list reflects current user activity and research trends.
