ScholarCheck Rank, or ScholarRank is an overall ranking based primarily on the five HeinOnline ScholarCheck metrics. The five metrics are:
- Cited by Cases
- Cited by Articles
- Accessed (Past 12 Months)
- Cited by Articles (Past 10 Years)
- Cited by Articles (Past 1-2 years)
h-index is also used as a modifier in overall scholar check rank to reduce ties.
How We Calculate ScholarRank:
First, all authors’ ScholarCheck Scores are calculated. The formula for ScholarCheck Score is:
ScholarCheck Score = (total of all 5 scholarcheck metrics rankings/5) – (h-index/1000)
(The totals for each of the five metrics are ranked using dense ranking.)
ScholarCheck Score = (233+446+202+318+139)/5) – (22/1000)
ScholarCheck Score =267.6 – .022
ScholarCheck Score =267.578
Our system determined there are 232 scores better than 267.578, so this author’s score is ranked 233.
Though rare, it is possible for multiple authors to have the same ScholarRank.
