I’m having difficulty accessing HeinOnline App & I use a proxy server

If you are having difficulty accessing content with the HeinOnline App via your iPhone or iPad due to conflicts with your proxy server, you can use your mobile device’s “Device ID” to generate a temporary password for the HeinOnline app.

Here’s how:
From a workstation that can access HeinOnline:
Open this link: http://heinonline.org/HOL/GetTabletKey

On the mobile device that cannot access HeinOnline:

  • Find the Device ID 
    • Make sure you have the latest version of the HeinOnline app, then open the app and click on the “Need Help” link in the Menu area. You should see the Device ID at the bottom of the screen.

From the workstation that can access HeinOnline:
Enter your device ID into the “device ID” field on the authenticated workstation’s web browser and click “Go”

On the mobile device that cannot access HeinOnline:

  • Enter the resulting password into the “Password” field.
    • When entering the temporary password please leave the USERNAME blank and remember the password is case sensitive.

NOTE: the temporary password must be entered within 24 hours of being generated otherwise you will need to create another one. After you enter the password into the app you will have access for 30 days, at which point you will need to create a new password.
